Poem
The prophecy said he would have eyes of piercing blue This knight that conquers the world, and you The strongest arm ever to swing a broad sword The tallest knight, his title Lord. She married the knight with eyes of blue He was the strongest and tallest too. But the prophesy said there would be love unbound Yet in her heart, love still was not found. Though the years did pass, dragons for her he did slay A new gift or a conquest, great stories each day. But for the lady of this handsome strong Lord Love did not touch down, to her deepest chord. Along came a new knight his arm powerful and strong Through many lands he had travelled so long Felling mere knights that dare cross his path Till the day the tallest knight, did fire up his wrath. He spied the Lady at the side of the Lord For her he knew any river he would ford. To win the heart of this lady so grand So that one day she would give him her hand. She denied her love for the prophecy said Twould be the ‘tallest and strongest Lord’ she would wed. Not only that, this new knight she had seen Had not the blue eyes, his eyes were green. He held his sword arm pointing, he told her his time he would bide, My heart and soul are yours, will you come to me as my bride? No matter the vows, that you made long before You didn’t know you entered via the wrong door. The Lady was sad, which way to turn Her vows she had made, but her poor heart did yearn For the tallest and strongest Lord with the eyes piecing blue Or the new pretender with a love that is true. Amidst dragons and demons with swords they did fight Through day after day from dawn till dark night They battled they fought, each had right on his side But neither could win no matter, they tried. Their swords they did clash, sparks flew and swords fused as one Till death they did fight but neither one won The prophecy was just like the story of the Holy Grail Nothing more than some pages, in a child’s fairy tale. © 11/08/2013 Contest Entry
