Poem
The morning was chilly and still, a bit dark due to the early morning hour. A Lady named Grace had the same bus route for years. As she pulled the big yellow bus over in order to pick up the children awaiting her there, Grace couldn't help but notice a little boy, not only young but small in stature, looking up at the steps of the bus was not such a great sight for him that little dear. Never mind that his back pack was loaded with all of his books and school supplies, way too many books for him to lug around on his very young back. So with the help of strong arms around him, he was lifted up to the first step. Then he slowly made his way up into the bus with as much dignity that he could muster. On this same bus, sad eyes looked up at Grace as another little boy explains the skid marks appearing on the bottom of his shorts. He said that they were just oil smears, that the stink that he has learned to live with is just the smell of grease. Grace starts to sing on this bus full of young girls and boys, students of a hard knocks life! Grace sings, "He is Holy, He is Holy," repeating these lines several times, the children start to quiet down. It seems to Grace, to she who is wise, it's like the parents want their children out of the house so that they could continue to live out their own selfish lives, at least this seems to be true in many cases. Perhaps sometimes some of these parents could not afford any child care as they hold onto very demanding jobs. Jobs to keep a roof over their family's heads. Grace pulled up to the next stop. A boy who was waiting there sported a runny nose, his face was so red. One could tell he was burning up with fever. Grace was livid even inside her patient nature, she had seen this scenario one too many times before. Grace made her way down the stairs of that bus and marched up to that young boy's front door and knocked. His mother answered. Grace said to her, "When a child is as sick as your son is, and then sent off in shorts you need to call a doctor, at the very least take care of your son today." Grace returned and made her way back onto the bus and continued on her way. She is to teach others the way things need to change for the sake of all these little ones involved... and how it is to walk by faith and not by sight, for the parents to mature, for them to learn to call on God to make the what isn't into the what is. This aspect of Grace herself is not obsolete!
