The Lighthouse

The wind-swept sea breaks across my face
Approaching the storm, straight into the unknown
It’s funny to think how I landed in this place
But it brought me to you, more than I ever could have known

Woke up this morning thinking of you
Clichés be damned, love is in the air
Whether this was a dream, or actually true
Deserving of misfortune, this hardly seems fair

Your hands are on the wheel, guiding the stern
Long ago, the wretched sea should have claimed this name
But here I stand, ready for each and every turn
I have discovered the antidote for that undying flame

My ways these days and nomadic in nature
But I am not wandering, and far from alone
I have you by my side, finally took your lure
For you are my lighthouse, a light always shown

With courage at my back, and wind in my sails
I stand on my stern, facing the great unknown
This hull is warped but greets every wave without fail
I know I’ll make it back, ‘cause with you I found a home

When my tour at sea has reached its natural end
I’ll turn around my ship and aim for that light in the fog 
I’ll maroon my ship upon the flawless sandy shore
Break through the door, and up the stairs in a jog

I’ll look you in the eyes like I always do
Pick you up and hoist you into the air
See in your eyes all in the universe that is true
I can rest knowing I don’t’ have a care

I kiss you like it’s the first time, and the last time
Feeling the pieces come together, to be whole again
I laugh at loud, without even a reason or rhyme
Knowing this is the life, a perfect 10 out of 10
