Super Human Radioactive Kid

Skip the ceremonies, and call this what it is
A super human, hyperactive radioactive kid
The wind in his cape, fighting crime with his noose
This “hero” of the people is out on the loose

His touch contaminating every inch he feels
Leaving every scene in a chemical peel
The hero saves the world, and then it dies
His good deeds undone, the world’s demise

His good intentions leave him alone in the dark
In a world that is dead, he has left his mark
No one spared from the noose of the radioactive haze
That surrounded this kid, his deeds no longer amaze

Now he stands alone, no more crime to fight
He could have saved this world from its plight
Not through combat, but by removing himself
From this broken world that deserved nobody else

I guess they had it coming, and so did he
He thought he was blessed, a sight to see
Flying like a eagle, stronger than steel
He had all the skills to take the wheel

He didn’t fight the evil, it was him after all
I guess it’s injustice that he never did fall
He reaches for his dagger to correct this mistake
Preys to whatever god will have his soul to take

He grips the handle of the waiting knife and inhales
Then aims it for the heart that long ago went stale
But he feels no pain, it doesn’t really seem fair
In a world so dead, he’ll never run out of air

He remembers his old life and the girl he loved
When he was no hero, but he was beloved
A time when his life was short but so sweet
A distant fantasy where he can only retreat

Now he roams the deserted overgrown roads
The buildings around have begun to erode
His immortal body it seems will never fall
Forever left with nothing; no nothing at all…
