Poem
They walked up to the entrance And he followed her up the stairs Stopping a few stairs below her She turned to face him, and found herself Level with his blue eyes He had both hands in his pockets And now she realized that gesture for what it was An attempt to allay his nervousness She smiled, feeling her power over him. “Thank you," she whispered. “Your good deed is done. You're free to leave." “Only if you promise to have breakfast with me on my yacht.” She touched his cheek and tried to look past the longing in his eyes. “You don’t even know me. I’m not...I’m not her. I can’t be who you want me to be. We are from two different worlds.” “But that’s not it. You don’t understand, I…” And before he could complete what he was going to say, She reached out and cradled his face in her hands Her lips closed over his All her frustration and disappointment with love All her restraint, keeping her heart in line All the wonder at finding the man of her dreams The magical events of the evening Her feelings of invincibility Of sheer vulnerability Everything that defined who she was... Everything, she put into that kiss Her way of saying goodbye Of thanking him for this magical night A night where she had become one of THEM The privileged The beautiful The blessed It was because of him She finally pulled away When she looked at him, his eyes were still closed His hands still buried in his pockets His lips moist and glistening from her cherry flavored lip gloss He exhaled and finally opened his eyes Looking at her with a look that made her weak… A look filled with longing, desire, happiness, and raw need. He smiled a very slow smile and inhaled deeply “Can I take that as a ‘yes?’ May I pick you up tomorrow?” She felt giddy, mad, reckless, but most of all She felt strong...womanly...in control Hand on her hips, she teased “It seems you are still unclear about my answer, I…” His movement was quick Before she could finish her words He covered the distance between them Drawing her almost savagely up to himself He was the one in control now Claiming her, wanting her And she melted into him When she could finally breathe, she whispered in his ear, “Is the answer clear enough for you now?” She was rewarded with a smile His blue eyes inviting her to be his Burying her head on his chest She listened to the erratic beating of his heart She didn't even know his name All she knew All she needed to know Was that he was the owner... The yacht club owner Of her dreams
