Poem
The journey I have taken has opened my eyes, to a huge world out there under one big sky. I have learned that my situation isn’t all that bad. Many would trade their lives for the one I've had. I was given the opportunity to leave and explore and what I experienced moved me to the core. I went to a place much different than mine. Where a child’s smile made the world shine. After seeing what I experienced I felt selfish. To help each and every one I met would be my wish. Everything they received that had surely earned. They taught me so much and this is what I learned. If we took the time, to walk in their shoes, we could see the life, they weren’t able to choose. A life stripped of so much, it’s hard to understand. They don’t ask for a lot, simply a helping hand. At such a young age, so much already lost. They fight to survive, at such a high cost. Poverty and illness, have taken so much. We turn a blind eye, Saying “it can’t be such”. A genuine smile, truly goes a long way. To know someone cares can make their day. It doesn’t take much to see we aren’t the same. It is actually pretty clear, their faith puts us to shame. We seem to have it all. Probably even useless stuff. We have money, cars, and clothes, but is it enough? If those are the things, you feel that you need, Maybe a walk in their shoes, would do you good indeed.
