Youth

Every year I live
Lasts an eternity
Must I be treated like a child forever
I speak no one listens
Do sixteen year olds have no rights
I know 
I have lived
Adults tell me
"one day you will understand"
"wait till you have kids of your own"
They tell me what to eat 
What to wear
When to go 
Who I can hang with
When to come home
If only I was a grown up
Things would be so different

The Elder

Every year
Faster than the last
It seems but hours ago I was so young
Living my dreams
The captain of my world
I thought I would live forever
Time is a cruel master
Sapping my strength
Leaving this disintegrating shell
When I speak no one listens
Someone else tells me they know best
They decide what I wear
Who I see
Where I go.
When did I lose control
Why am I treated like a child
My body betrays me
Filled with pain
Each year
Feels like an eternity
It is my time to go

The Dead

This thing I feared
Has finally come
The end is the beginning
I am not scared
A new body was prepared
The energy of youth
Paired with all I have learned
A new beginning
New dreams to live
My Savior promised to forgive
I approach God's throne
Thankfully not alone
Jesus here by my side
On God's face a smile
He says come sit for a while
Today there is no rush
No longer slave to time
It doesn't pass too slow
It won't vanish fast
In fact it no longer exists
Like my old body it has passed a way

In the end God has the final say
