The loud sounds of life everyday
I am unable to hear even what my mind says
Numbing my senses with acoustic images
My mind is helpless to fight modern life’s ravages

I wish I could go to a place offering serenity
Where it’s just me and my thoughts for company
Where even the rivers flow, through the rocks, gently
And the birds chirp in whispers and sing quietly

I would sit by my window basking in quiet rhythms
My mind empty, save glimpses from my life’s prism
And I would love to be a prisoner of such ambience
Just me and my dreams and the ever present silence

In this silent world, I will feel every beat of my heart
Will grieve in silence for lost love and the fact that we are apart
When grief overwhelms me and I feel saddened by my heartbeat’s presence
I will pray to God to lay me to rest, and just dissolve into silence
