Poem
The town folk below gazed in startled wonder Suddenly a clap of lightning gold thunder Above the dragon silently flies Under dark black raven skies Gliding lower, ever near People scatter in total fear For they know this majestic beast On their children it does feast Then suddenly without a sound One small boy stood his ground For this chap he had brains Knew he should douse the dragons flames Had the confidence he would prevail In his hand a water filled pail The dragon swooped in for the kill The boy just stood perfectly still The boy then with the deadliest of aims Threw the bucket, extinguished the flames The dragon let out a piercing scream Then flew off in a puff of steam The boy had remembered a book he once read Some weeks prior before going to bed He knew what to do, he rightly boasted Dragons like their children roasted You see, this boy was very special Yes, very special indeed The only one in the town Who had learned how to read From that day forward, no one was a fool Learning the value of going to school Wherever they went every son and daughter Was always equipped with a bucket of water
