I spent my entire life
Building these walls
Hiding among the shadows
So that I couldn't fall

Feelings I cast out
Independence then over shadows
Humor I tend to use
To fight my toughest battles

Not looking for love
Trying to keep flying solo
Keeping my emotions at bay
Tending to keep myself hollow

Then you caught me off guard
There was awkwardness at first
But as the days moved on
I began to feel the thirst 

The thirst of your love
Your kind and gentle touch
I began to show my feelings 
And at first  it was just to much

The walls I feel are breaking
My heart is fully exposed
An award sir you should receive
Because no other person has known

Its only been a short while
But I hope this lasts forever
I'm trusting you with this gift
I'd say your rather clever 

So please don't take advantage 
I'm starting to stand tall 
I love you babe with all my heart
Your the only one to break my wall

I finally see the light again 
Feeling blessed in each and every 
way
Thank you for for coming into my 
life
I really hope you decide to stay

So bring on the future 
Joys, fights, laughter, and tears
Because I know we can conquer 
Relationships I no longer fear

I hope this stays strong 
Lets go along for the ride
I look forward to what may come
