Poem
Heavy breathing reverberating inside my head My helmet rattling as I shake and loosen my neck Feet stepping into mud, deep and soggy wet Heavy to lift out the peace from the gospel, my feet, with each step Unison of cries and war shouts alarming Looking left out of my helmet the peace keeps us calm and Peering right from my eye slots arm heavy from weaponry Some warriors walking backwards blinded they cannot see The battle ahead we must keep on marching forth Sword of the spirit and my Shield of Faith tell of my worth That God’s Word is my belt of truth firmly around my girth My chest heaves as I step forward; no fear, no sound to rebirth We march on, the past present and future is now here The ultimate battle of good and evil, God and Satan, love and fear I see the millions who with me are carrying their cross Separated from the past, we run on with a new Boss A new conqueror, a King, majestic and awesome being No one who has tasted of this new life, cannot see what we’re seeing We’re transformed and renewed our humility on our armour As I swing my Sword the power and grace is evidently on us The front line is where we believe the action is not in lack The arrows shot by the enemy reach far behind the end of our pack Our hope, our faith our Shields are out and upwards shining The arrows diminish, one attack is prevented, we keep climbing This Army of Faith shouting 'Jesus' diligently keeps pushing, The opposition jumps out, it sends our Swords of the spirit swooshing, My Shield of Faith protects me, I hold tight to my Belt of Truth, Remembering the words of scripture that have saved me since youth So onward, onward, we can never cease or slack, Watch as the enemy knows to attack the Army from the back, Small camps of pride try to diminish our victory, But our enemy, Satan knows who's battle this really is.... Ephesians 6: 13 - 17 13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
