Poem
A woman being beat, brought to your feet, and yet we retreat. She reaches for your hand, but what she receives is sand. He continues to reveal the marks just the same, but she’s too lost in her shame, she doesn’t know who to blame. Everyone stares, but no one dares or even acts if they care. The one who pays the most is the unborn child at one time she did bare. This is how we throw our faith away. This is the way it leaves us day to day. Why is it god we betray? A man of another race tries to make his place. Everyone’s taking up his space. Everyone sees the pain on his face, and still no one stands for the love of grace. His life is taken on a cross; at it was for Jesus, our loss. All that remains of his life are names and faces of his children and wife. This is how we throw our faith away. This is the way it leaves us day to day. Why is it god we betray? A teenagers dead, messed up in the head, it’s all because of drugs, yet we won’t see why he’s dead. We even deny what’s being said. We sill buy, sell, and take knowing what’s at stake. We will keep trying. But in the end it’s our family that’s crying. This is how we throw our faith away. This is the way it leaves us day to day. Why is it god we betray? We turn away when others pay. We don’t even have anything to say; yet we know it’s not ok. We ridicule a person created different and it’s their lives we rated. We cheat ourselves in fate of a love so great that we will never see, what they can relate, and what they can be. We defeat ourselves, for what we fear to stand of give a hand. This is how we throw our faith away. This is the way it leaves us day to day. Why is it god we betray? We forget what god has given us, and just how many times can he save us? He cries as our faith dies, but he continues to give second tries. So many people flee, because they don’t want to see how the love of god has set them free. This is how we throw our faith away. This is the way it leaves us day to day. Why is it god we betray? Why is it we make ourselves pay?
