Ghosts from my past still haunt.
They smirk, smile and taunt.
The choices I made at the time seemed so right
but I wonder now that I’ve seen the light.

The strings tug on my heart threatening to rip it apart.
Our relationship was chaos from the start.
If it wasn’t you it was me
Why can’t Satan just let us be!

Oh how I want to be free!
Free from the pain and this heartache.

I feel with every fiber of my being we are meant to be 
And yet whenever there’s trouble one of us will flee?
I know neither of us meant to hurt each other
and yet we’ve both hurt one another.

You have caused me so much pain
to the point that it’s insane
but I still want to be with you.
My soul you did renew.

Do you still want to be with me as well?
Do I still make your heart swell-
with those butterflies that you used to tell me about?
Or are you suddenly on another route?

I still think we are perfect for each other.
The connection we both felt neither of us could smother
and together I think we could discover 
something absolutely amazing and wonderful.

Last time you said it was my first move 
but now I don’t approve.
This time it would be your move first.
because now the roles are reversed.

“I’ll give everything for us but I won’t give up”.
It’s time for a close-up.
Where are we headed?
This is the situation I dreaded.

Please remember all those times we’ve shared.
I know you did what you did because you cared
but this time I’m really scared…
Scared that we will never be together again and I am unprepared.
No other time in my life has ever compared.
I love you like I never dared to before.
