Poem
We, as God’s children, sometimes get trapped in a search for earthly riches, and forget the higher goals such as love, joy and peace and their lasting attributes. The poem below bears a story of misguided aspirations followed by a firm realization of a more blessed mental posture. ### In a far off rustic village there stood an antique store, Selling wares of vintage I had to explore. On a chair hung a label, but how could it be? Made by The Carpenter, The Man of Galilee! I knew I’d found a treasure – the rarest thing on earth. Something Jesus had crafted, of countless worth! The chair I quickly purchased, though the cost was high. No doubt of priceless value, to remember Jesus by. Suddenly I awakened, and sadly saw no chair. I knew I’d been dreaming when my mind was clear. I realized in time, my thoughts were out of line. I needed no wooden chair to enshrine. God left us many things eclipsing silver and gold, Just look around us at the treasures to behold. He made the world, complete with land and sea, Then placed upon it the progenitors of you and me. The beasts of the field and birds of the air Are pleasing in his sight placed under his care, But when God wanted fellowship he created man – We are Priceless Treasures, made by his own hand! ### For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Mark 8:36 KJV
