~~Castles and Dreams in the Sand.~~ The waves roll in onto the golden sand Washing past dreams and castles away. Cleansing, taking the memories back from the land To be replaced by the new ones today. Build me a castle sings the voice of a child My son and the delight of my eyes. Watching him splashing in waves so calm and mild My thankfulness at him is still no surprise. The waves ripple, lazy pebbles don’t roll I wonder at the price I still have to pay This child of mine; the God given gift of a soul His sprightly moves, his childish laughter so fey. A castle I will build, but my boy is the foundation He lies in the sand, his laughter sings on the breeze. A bucket here a bucket there, a remake of Gods fine creation The shape forms it is a merboy and it happens with ease. The childish giggle He tries hard to keep still He’s all of a wiggle I wonder at his perfection still. The waves roll in my merboy lies in the sand He turns and kisses me with love and says goodbye. He says to me “you knew it was not real as he waves his mer hand” He flicks his tail, he is gone and I sit and I wonder why. This perfect creation so alive and so real He is gone from my life with a kiss The waves rolling in I remembered the deal "You can have your boy for five years as your wish." The price for a child you offered, five years of a life But remember that he will live on You gladly accepted the deal to be a mother and wife ~~Remember the kiss and the deal - now he has gone.~~ © Contest Entry For: Sandcastles By the Seashore sponsored By Gail Doyle By: Mandy Tams ~Golden Girl~
