Poem
I sought a soul akin to mine; Like Zeus’s Athena And Alexander’s Hephestian; In oracle and verse- Transient of continents From the warm breath of the New World to the Whispering sands of the old, so Ancient and archaic- I consorted with shimmering stars and Conversed with the deepest of seas… Drowned in back alleys, shadow dancing- carousing rathskellers where the living are dead and the dead wouldn’t dare to go; Yet I felt the pull- I stared into the eyes of a giant beast The magnitude of Gibraltar Rock; He stared and said to me - "Who you seek is not in me. Search the world over And you will fail, Until you relinquish the quest and listen inside- try to see” Confused- I kissed him and told him goodbye- The monster sighed and swam away The pull is stronger- I met an Angel, so beautiful and bright. His androgyny was my bounty on life. I existed in the perfect creature of Gods and Man- His integrity beyond the understanding Of my wretched ideology… Alone-knowing myself In pure agony, on I suffered The pull never wavering- Deep from within a Blackness I have always known; I met her. She, feline in grace and form Lips sweet and Divine, only Narcissus could deny; Put her arms around me… In the smell of honey, I bathed in her scent; In tears she told me I was too fierce and she would leave The pull began to choke me- I sat upon the rooftops in the land Of selfish Ancient God’s of death and betrayal; Pondered where to go On the rage of the pull I felt- Now killing me, so I followed It to a place so cold… Searching through a fierce terrain of pine and snow, I saw the footprints and heard the scream... The smothering of the pull- In the dark I saw his eyes His amber moons met my wonder and craze; Alas, the pull began to seize His lithe and perfect form I saw in a haze Of crimson and cold The smell of blood and life caught my lust I followed him like a love struck puppet So loving now this pull- I descended into a carcass of gore with breathless fervor- For him I licked the iron liquid from his face The yellow eyes looked at me And we knew upon this meeting we each has found Another like themselves- Screaming into the sound Their wildness united with the copulating under the Beams of the moon… Their hatred of their own kind found them Another (love) akin to their soul. (Unfortunately I can't name which contests I won with this one, there were a few and generally i delete when wining. Used to post at bottom but quit doing that)
