Poem

Once I knew the way to get back home,
Somewhere to feel safe and not so alone.
The path changed and I lost my way,
I hope to find my way back today.

I close my eyes and remember what’s true,
I’m not quite certain if I ever knew.
A tear comes to my eye as I begin to cry,
Time marches on and the day goes by.

Dreams fill the empty skies.
Smiles await you as you rise.
Destiny stands and still awaits,
I feel I’m drowning in my fate.

I look to the star for a way out,
I want to understand what life’s about.
Still they shine no matter what I do,
Journeys through darkness I’ve been through.


I wake as the sun kisses the dawn,
I view the wreckage so much is gone.
I hope and pray it will be better today,
To keep the darkness and fear at bay.

My mind eases and I feel calm,
I never meant to cause alarm.
I see what’s in my heart it is good,
I hope for change if it only could.
