Poem
It was at the tomb, the morning of the week’s first day. A massive stone was placed to block the tomb’s entranceway. An amazing thing happened earlier on that day. As the earth shook, the two guards posted there did not stay. This occurrence caused the huge stone to be rolled away. Mary Magdalene and the wife of Clopas, Mary discovered the body of Jesus missing to see. Instead, they would see something that would fill them with fright. Two angels stood there dressed in robes of dazzling white. One angel said, “Your Jesus is not here; He lives on. He arose from the dead, and to Galilee, He’s gone. They fled the tomb. Mary Magdalene soon saw Peter. He was with a disciple John when they greeted her. She told the men what occurred. Then they ran at fast pace to where Jesus had been entombed; His burial place. John arrived first, and saw the linen strips all around. Peter came; he also saw Jesus not to be found. They wondered what happened to Jesus, and His presence. However, Jesus would soon make His first appearance. Mary Magdalene would be the first to see Jesus. Two other disciples would see Him near Emmaus. Later that evening, Jesus met with all but Thomas. Eleven of the disciples became a witness. “Peace be with you” were the first words spoken by Jesus. Nail marks on the hands and feet, and pierced side He displayed. As he told the eleven, “Please do not be afraid. I’ll be here for only a short time before I go. Spread the word I am risen. Please let everyone know!” Matthew 28 Mark 16 Luke 24 John 20
