Poem

I have opened my soul and my heart to you
 My mind has ingested every part of you
 I have allowed you to feast upon my body
 I have enjoyed you like you were my hobby
 My love for you is unfortunately one-sided
 This thing we have has me feeling slighted
 It hurts that my feelings are not returned
 And your lack of emotion has me feeling burned
 When you don’t return my calls, it makes me feel the fool
 Sitting by an unringing phone, the torture is cruel
 When you say you’ll do something then you renege 
It breaks my heart like it is some sort of fragile twig
 To put my faith in you and all of it be in vain
 Makes me bitter and consumed with disdain
 I don’t want to hate you because you are a good man
 You’re just not good for me and you can no longer be in my plan
 I’m tired of crying these tears of sorrow
 Because I yearn to have a happier tomorrow
 These pain-induced tears that you have continuously caused
 Has made me think and put my life on pause
 Why do I always do this to myself….self-reflection
 Allow the unworthy to have my heart…constant rejection
 I’m tired of crying behind someone who doesn’t even want me
 Wasting my emotions on something that wasn’t meant to be
 I’m bleeding inside from the pain of a broken heart
 But now, it’s past the time for us to finally depart
 Maybe one day, you’ll open up yourself to love me
 Maybe one day, you’ll open your eyes to finally see
 That the love I possessed for you was real and true
 But by the time you realize this, it’ll be too late for you.
