Poem
Startled by the pack as he awoke, he froze, eye's darted back and fourth, Dam!, no where to go, a mists his hazy wake a shadow drew near, he sensed familiarity, but move he did not dare. The shadow spoke so softly to him in his mind, reminded him of a lost time gone by, the pack was his to command, possessed with spirits of a accident line, his pack, he was the alpha prime, from a pre reincarnated time. Within these hills 1000 moons ago, a battle for the valley ended below, the alpha prime scarified his life for his pack, he told them to run and not look back. His pack pledged an oath to end the enemies blood line, awaiting the return of there prime till the end of time. The shadow touched the mans inner soul, and with that all old memories came back like a bolt, The enemy he had seen the day before, that grizzly bear, you were all here, it was he who left in fear. Then man jumped up to his feet, "prepare for the enemy we must meet", the pack jumped as well, now sharing single mind, single thought, single smell. He gave a mighty howl that echoed for miles as he pull his knife from his sleeve, "time to hunt, I want the heart of my enemy". Didn't take long a scent they could smell, they sensed as well. Around trees, bushes the pack ran, as the man thought out a deadly plan, Higher and higher up the mountain top they ran, finally to a clearing where the bear sat. Surrounding him instantly teeth starting to glare, growling and barking with out fear, the bear stood to meet his foe, his giant paws ready he began to growl low. The man circled the bear slow sizing him out, then he attacked plunging the knife into the bears mouth, The bear grabbed the man with it might paws, and bite down on the mans shoulder bone with it jaws, as the man felt his bones start the shatter and crack, the rest of the pack started to attack. Relentlessly the pack attacked from every angle they could see, bringing the mighty grizzly to it's knees, It was there the man managed his last fatal blow, plunging his knife into the heart of his foe. That final blow ended the pact, released from there bound oath was the pack, as the spirits started drift away, the man stood, then fell dazed. Confused with his surroundings, the man was not aware, where he was, or how he got there, he looked at his wound as the pain set in, struggling to get back to his feet again. He went to the end of the clearing to find a place to sit, falling close by so he just crawled towards it. M.Mahauariki © 2012
