Poem
I see her sitting all alone she looks lost in thought, She seems to be arguing in her head fighting so hard to be strong. So entangled in her mind she doesn’t know how much longer she can put up a fight. Tears stream down her worn face she shakes her head mouthing the words no. She springs up and starts to run, she runs as hard as she can, She is running and despite the pain she cant stop, she cant look behind. Her past is gaining on her, she is tired, her legs are starting to give. She falls to her knees and is trying to scream for help. Her words are not heard, they never are. For words cannot be heard by closed ears or minds. She is gasping for air, screaming in her head, Hear me, Save me, Help me, Hear me. There is no answer, there never is. Her past now right behind her, she bows her head for she knows she cannot escape. I run to her and reach my hand out to help her up. She looks up at me, the girl was me. I woke up sprawled on the bathroom floor with tears running down my face. I let go of the tight grasp of the bottle in my hand, it rolls across the floor. I contemplate to pick myself up off the floor, but in the end I do. I look into the mirror, I vomit in disgust. I clean up the cut on my head from hitting it on the sink. Then I go get ready for the day, put on my clothes. Then the shoes, then the disguise. The disguise that is getting worn out from using so often. The disguise of everything is ok. The disguise of having a good time. The disguise that you are actually happy. Knowing the disguise will be with you forever. I've grown accustom to the disguise we are as one. So scared to take it off, scared it is too late, scared of what they will think.
