Poem
One night an Angel entered a young man's home To show this grief stricken soul he is not alone Angel: "What ails you my son, why do you weep?" Man: "I have gone as far as I can go and now I must leap." Angel "But you have so many years ahead full of laughter and love." Man "I am past the point of no return; I've forsaken help from above." Angel "I've come here to remind you of what you've always known, but like many, you forgot." Man "All the effort I put into making sense of this, all the stands I've taken have all crumbled they've all been for naught." Angel "You have fought hard over the years and the battles aren't over; you still have challenges to meet." Man "But all these battles' they batter me down, constantly knocking me off my feet." Angel "The struggles you face are lessons to be learned." Man "But where is the peace for which I have so desperately yearned?" Angel "You are the peace you seek, the beacon you desire." Man "I hear empty promises and you sound like a liar." Angel "It is not easy to obtain such peace, you must follow your heart through a journey with little definition." Man "How can I follow my heart when I can barely control my own volition." Angel "Explore the pain you feel, maybe you'll find strength within suffering. You might find rays of light bursting through the dark cloudy sky." Man "I've sat with my pain for many years asking why? The conclusion I've drawn is that I must die." Angel "I feel you've misinterpreted the purpose of your pain; the divine spirit would not ask of you to die in vain." Man "What then must I learn from this misery?" Angel "That I am you and you are me and we all struggle to be free." Man "You're telling me even angels struggle to find themselves?" Angel "Yes and I'll continue to do so even if I have to tread through a thousand hells." Man "Why though, what meaning do you get from this?" Angel "The same meaning you get from seeking a kiss." Man "How can a kiss compare to all this pain and doubt?" Angel "It's a symbol of comfort, of connecting with all. Now why are you so sure you have this all figured out?" Man "It's the certainty of uncertainty that compels me to death." Angel "So it's fear of the permanent that drives you to your last breath." Man "I want to leave behind this unstable mind." Angel "You will in time depart from your mind, but until then it's your soul you must find." Man "How can I know if my conviction will last?" Angel "Remember these words during your darkest hours... This too shall pass."
