My ship has come into port
the clock's run out in this game
now flannel speaks of comfort
gentle springs welcome the same

I fold back the sheet
release settles in
I pause and take a seat
I always lose but here I win

I pet the top of my pillow
as I tuck my legs under
I feel good though I feel low
finally free to wonder

Can life ever feel this good?
Can effort please as much as rest?
maybe someday it could
but for now this is life's best....

I snuggle into this soft space
I feel myself let go
and I look God right in the face
thanking him though all is so

The quilt begins to warm
the tender bed begins to heal
life's crazy goes on to swarm
but now Im safe and even keel

I relax and wait to sleep
quite clam inside serenity
time can pass and still I reap
some peace from all I know and see

Can life ever feel this good?
Can effort please as much as rest?
maybe someday it could
but for now this is life's best


I'm spending all my time in bed
feels right after all I've done and said
There's noone here I have to please
So the hours pass with ease

letting go
of all I know
of fears and foes
inside this show

So I stay
Here to lay
everyday
with all at bay

at least for now
this is how
