Poem

This is for the Dreams Contest and is what I dreamed about last night. I don't usually dream of famous people so I thought I'd use it to get a little star power into my entry.
Tony

I was roaming the corridors of a very nice hotel,
It was early in the morning and here’s how I could tell.

A breakfast buffet was being set for the conventioneers,
I was my wife’s arm candy as she mingled with her peers.

So I tried to stay out of the way and to find a place to sit,
I located the service elevator and decided to stay with it.

That was when David Bowie came wandering down the hall,
I struck up a conversation with him in an effort to make him stall.

David Bowie if you turn that corner and walk into that room,
You’ll be besieged by the crowd it’s not what you want I would presume?

David Bowie looked as if he’d been dragged through the street,
So I assured him that I’d get him upstairs in a way that would be discreet

I asked him when he had eaten last and would he like a chicken biscuit?
I said that they weren’t good for him but for the flavor he should risk it.

“That’s very nice,” he said to me, “I believe that I’d like to try one.”
So I snuck one out of the kitchen so I wouldn’t have to buy one.

Then I pushed the button on the service elevator and handed him the food,
And tucked him in the lift with a push and apologized for being rude.

But David Bowie smiled a tired smile and thanked me for all that I had done,
He thanked me for the discretion and food but mostly for not making him run.

As the doors of the elevator closed I looked down at his shoes,
A pair of boots with bed springs attached left me feeling confused.

“Celebrities,” was all I said as I shook my wondering head,
That’s when the alarm woke me up and it was time to get out of bed.
