CLAM SHELLS, SEAWEED AND A WHOLE OTHER BUNCH OF JUNK

I looked through the ocean
I searched through the sea
But I never found me

She always said that we were different
I’d ask how and she would always say
“only in every definitive way”

So I set a course to change those things
I bought her little trinkets, bracelet and rings
Yet the thought of her “we are different” still sorrowfully stings

My beloved loved all creatures one and all
So i purchased her a tiny little rabbit
That was the same year I first developed a heroin habit

The difference was tangible, perennial, and hurt
Exactly how different we were I would come to know
i.e. to cross a stream she would wade and I would row

I’m going out but I’ll be right back
“no, you’re just going out to score”
And that’s when I watched her fetchingly fly out the door

But I liked dope so much more
And her dirty looks quickly got old
Then dirty looks turn into dirty words, or so I have been told

On that beach I found clams, mussels but no answers to be
I wanted her back but old Neptune didn’t agree with me
And that which I wanted to trade couldn’t be given away for free

I strolled into Neptune’s not knowing that which I might incur
I thought of where I am and where we once were
Now I search the sea but I never find me and surely not her
