Poem
We met in the SUMMER. Our love was, from the beginning, as the summer sun is, in it's warmth and brightness,... and as refreshing as a dip in a mountain brook. Then came FALL. As the days grew shorter, likewise did our patience and understanding for one another. Our dreams turned from brilliant to rust colored, along with the leaves on the trees. Our love was put away,...as if a squirrel had hidden it for another day. The snow fell soon afterwards, and WINTER was here. Each storm left us bound together by only a thin thread of ice, not strong enough to hold up against the destructive blizzard that came,...and left all in ruins. But like tiny seeds that have fallen to the ground and taken root, was our love, waiting for the first ray of sunshine that came with SPRING,...to wake it from a winter's nap. SUMMER was the time for us to rebuild all that had been lost in the bitter cold of December. We struggled to construct a life. But like a dam that beavers had worked on for so long, pieces started drifting away one by one, until the dam wasn't strong enough to hold the pressure of the rapids,...feelings were scattered and time was lost. Fall brought the fog which served as a means of camouflage to hide the emptiness that lingered. Harvest time was near,...but the fields were bare. Much fuel is needed to warm the cold winter months, and there isn't much hope that there will be enough to get us through,...another season. Copyright: November 4, 2005
