Poem
If I became an ascended master No doubt I'd be a zealot To see mankind empowered I would openly proclaim my assignment As I explain my desires To my ascended colleagues They all chuckle to one other From my words so naive I don't understand you, I say The people need to know That we are only as strong or weak As our faith in limitations grow You are such a lazy bunch I'll show you how it's done I dematerialize before their strange looks My education has begun I find a group of people And then materialize before them They look as shocked as someone just caught In some imaginary sin Without asking one question And falling to their knees They all begin dropping to the ground Prostrating themselves before me Wait, wait, please please, no Please, everyone please stand up But they can't seem to hear me Writhing like a litter of pups Taking one by the shoulder I say, I'm no better than you Please, please let me explain That you can do this too Then one raises his head Finally, I'm getting through Shall we build you a temple Lord, I mean in honor of you? But in a state of terrible horror No, god no, please no In fact I'll give you a nickel If you please, just don't What is your name, oh Lord? No, please call me Dave All praise the Great Lord Dave Helplessly I step back in shame Can I not speak with you, I ask As if we were all equal? What is it that you command, Lord Dave? We are your people Overwhelmed by sadness The likes I have never felt I slowly stagger backwards Needing to find an escape route In a moment of frustration As their hands are stretched toward the sky I sigh, beam me up Scotty Then I dematerialize In a state of humiliation My colleagues surround me Did they want to build a temple for you? One asks, but very gently I give them no response Feeling misunderstood and distraught They smile with quiet encouragement Then leave me to my thoughts
