I disliked my father, 
He was never there for me 
Even at my soccer games 
Where I would look around 
With excitement, trying to spot him 
But disappointment is all I see 

He doesn't do much 
Not having fun with the family 
Nor being bored with the family 
He sleeps often 
And doesn't take the time to talk to me 
He wasn't someone I could call...father 

Now, I am his age 
With my own family 
I would work hard and long 
He inspired me, 
To not become what he was 

After a day of hard work 
I would sleep the instant I return home 
I don't see my family much 
But it feels good to rest 
And know that I'm doing all I can 
To help my family live their dreams 
And this one day 
My son had asked me with curiosity 
"Dad, why don't you ever show up at my games?"
