Your face no longer illuminates the room
Now it just fills it with darkness and gloom
Your thoughts and sweet words used to brighten my day
Now they make me wish that you would just go away
Those who didn't know you before would never believe
The way you made people's heart soar and encouraged them to achieve
I think about the good old days, I sit and reminisce
It's hard for me to adjust to the change, to see you go through this
I woke up one day to a completely different person
I'm hoping this is temporary but everyday it worsens
It crushes my soul to see you this way
With a heart unresponsive, hardened as clay
It's hard for me to keep up with your mood swings
And not feel hurt when you say cruel things
I'm not the only one you've hurt, also others who love you deeply
I wish you could see your worth,  I find it hard to believe this new person is me
Perhaps I'm going through this because I need to learn a lesson
But what a cruel teacher you are- professor depression
