Poem
Sitting here, I wonder, do you even know That I am so much more than some place you HAVE to go? I know that you say it’s not all about me I may seem selfish, but I have to be Every moment of each and every day I face the chance of you going away You’re in my heart, you are part of my soul I feel like my emotions have taken control I’m trying to hold on to each moment , in case it is the last Regretting all the time we’ve wasted in the past It hurts my feelings when you can’t find time to fit me in Seems like every time I turn around, its happening again How did I get here? So desperate for just a minute I need to get back to being fine with life without you in it Sitting here, I wonder, will you look back and be sad? Will you regret the missed opportunities and the love you could have had? I am the one now who is feeling the sting I tell you I love you, but it doesn’t mean a thing Sitting here, I wonder, do I even know? Should I keep holding on, or should I let you go? Timing is everything, but time is only a dream The more I try to get close to you, the farther away you seem. We may not have time to play this game of hot and cold All I have been asking for is to have you to hold You can’t find the time, or the will, or the way Not for me, not for us, now we’ve lost another day You know something that I won’t let myself see You aren’t here now, maybe you never truly will be I opened up to you and made myself yours to take Now I feel this pain in my chest telling me it was a mistake You keep drifting from me, maybe you’re letting me go Maybe I already lost you and I’m just the last to know. You may be trying to save me, but I’m feeling more at risk than ever before Its time to face reality, I can’t run from it anymore. Some fools never learn, so I find myself back here again. Only a fool keeps playing a game they know they will never win. Sitting here, I wonder, will you wish you hadn’t minded so much? I was always asking to see you, longing to feel your touch. Sitting here, I wonder, if you listen closely can you hear? I’m whispering “don’t leave me”, as you disappear. ©Copyright 2011 Melissa L. Farrow
