Mohammed Afreet Takes the Heat By Elton Camp Mohammed Afreet is a young family man. To live quietly he is doing all that he can. And like just about all people do, He thinks his own religion is true. “I was brought up in Islam, So that is what I’ve become.” Yet, for every extremist act Poor Afreet will suffer attack. “Hey there, you scum with the Islamic name. For the New York attack you are so to blame.” Such words he has heard for nine years People keep blaming him for their fears. “In this country I was born. Was at work that awful morn. It had nothing to do with me. I live in peace as you can see.” So-called Christians tend easily to forget Many sins their religions have to regret. Are they to blame for the Crusades Because the Pope so many obeyed? Or how Indians were left in the lurch In the name of God and the church? Or how the church the Bible did twist To put “witches” on the execution list? The churches, wars regularly support. With the military much like to cavort. Each side will pray to God to win Whenever any conflict does begin. When their foreign brothers are killed, They let it be known they are thrilled. But for all that’s done in Christ’s name Are all called “Christian” really to blame? I must freely admit, of course, False religion’s a corrupt force. But there’s also this to say: Look around for a better way. Even by those religionists who claim he’s adored, Never has the example of Christ been so ignored. The sincere can expect to reach Those who Bible’s truth teach. From persecution Mohammed can’t expect relief. Will be blamed for acts of any others of his belief. That this is so clearly unfair Few “Christians” seem to care. A “reverend” wants the Koran to burn. Common sense he much needs to learn. For acts of those who call on Christ’s name, I cannot rightly be expected to take blame. In Mohammed’s case, this is also true. He can’t help what extremists may do. And even if a guilty terrorist I should see, Bible says vengeance doesn’t belong to me.
