Poem
Returned to the coast of the mind, the tide of energy wetness, rising in and out we sat on the park bench, the sun rays a warm blanket upon skin cracked out galling gulls stared wide-eyed, beaks gaping chasm of nature Allen, oh Allen! Oh Ginsberg! how you inspired me the night wind of anticipation enveloped my steps and dreams the day before Crowd surfing canvas of multi-colored ethnicity painted city steps I walked from the Cafe of Sorrows to the Mecca of bookstores donning myself with HOWL this and HOWL that read HOWL, lived HOWL saw HOWL on the nights plutonium screen theater as narrow as the cave that births the mind births us all I saw you Allen OH Allen! OH Ginsberg! read of you and saw myself, my life, my friends and then knew knew what? knew hope The next day with the gulls and a great friend, a brother a comrade I sat with you Oh Allen and your tome of poetry, a Bible of poetic expression and gay liberation we descended upon the shore amongst rocks and wetness, the past lives in this place the markings of teens long remembered etched into the rock face surfaces of our minds looking back at the shore seeing the true perception of life and seeing how small it was then the last time I was there a decade ago moving to the rhythm of the sea how time truly does soar clouds of reality after taking the path I took in youth now an adult friend grasping my hand to guide me upward, arms slung over each other platonic embrace sitting again I pick you up Allen and read of past tender love and poetic intercourse OH Allen! OH Neal Cassady! the fireworks of my mind lit up the night sky of my cranium, my skull was cleared of all the past mistakes regrets and sadness the ability to see the path now shown by you Oh Allen! reading your words of tenderness and loving being at this place by the sea and with a friend I feel I have known since time primordial when our souls were yet clay I cried Oh Allen! I cried for the permission, the chance the gift to let it go Bring down the Wall Pink break down the dam of separation unite with feeling and release it toss it onto the ever present sea sow the seeds and let the good times grow
