Poem
Down to The Beach By Rick Rucker Down to the beach in woodies they go. Their boards are on top, their faces aglow, Their first thought's the surf, the surf, ah yes! The way that it's running is anyone's guess! If it’s big, by the report, Then they’ll have some wicked sport! Chance of drowning, dodging sharks, Hoping to not leave marks On their boards when they shoot the pier, All the time, fighting fear. If you don’t have guts, don’t even try, One wrong move, you could die! There are more hazards far outside, When you finally catch a ride, In a tube, do not blink, In a moment, you could sink. Your friends will pull on your tether, Trying to determine whether You are still attached, Or if you have been snatched, By a denizen of the Deep, Or did you simply fall asleep? Never to be seen again, A legend of the surfer men. A surfboard is your steed, And the danger you’ll not heed, Just like those knights of old, You are very, very bold! But while they fought men, one to one, You fight Mother Nature, in the Sun! If you, by chance, do survive, You will feel very much alive! And a maiden’s hand you’ll win, To the crowd’s raucous din! Today you have earned the right, To spend one wicked, wicked Knight!
