Seven in the morning, first toddler arrives
Extreme hope for the day in his eyes
You are the reason his look is glazed
He expects your wit to entertain and amaze

You are his Disneyland, his Chuck E. Cheese
His heart pumps, his mind at ease
Don’t fail him, don’t destroy his dreams
With love, stimulate and fulfill his needs
 
Do what you say and say what you mean
Belief in fairy tales, faith in the unseen
Wands cast spells, superhero’s fly
Santa Claus is real, leprechauns lie

Kids respond to music like flies to a cow
Sing every day whether you know how
For circle, for snack, for lunch or at noon
Before long they’ll all be singing in tune

If spiritual are the rewards you seek
You’ll have the power to penetrate deep 
By example, model positive behavior 
And you will be a warrior and savior 

Feel with compassion, without charge
Touch with a heart abundant and large
Listen actively, with sincere passion
See innocently, through rose colored glasses

Every child has a gift to explore
A specialness they should not ignore
Nurture it with challenges that inspire
And their inner self worth will grow higher

In teaching in a way that satisfies
Try to see the world from their eyes
Use puppets as often as you feel
Because to a child they are real

All things are magic, all things are alive
Connect with each child’s unique side
Make each day a celebration, a dance
Reciprocate with love and acceptance

The quieter you talk, the better they listen
The sillier you are, the better their attention
If you enjoy what you do, they will too
And each day will be a gift to you
