Life's Burdens

My back, heavy and bent, in real physical pain, 
saying I am sorry over and over and over again.
My many apologies have nothing to gain,
their anger resonates loudly in my brain.

My heart is weary, tired and sad, never without,  
guilt that I carry with me, day in and day out.
My sorrow, being genuine, still cannot bring about,
forgiveness from family, although devout.

Words fall upon deaf ears, that want only to blame,
tears cannot, and will not, bring about any change.
Hurting them, knowing not from where my anger came,
cannot they see how painful it is, and my shame?

When my life is finished, when they lay me to rest,
then the lord will listen, holding me to his breast. 
He will be the one that will hear my sins confessed,
helping others forgive me, being my first request.
