Poem

I became a souper
writing poems as best I could.
At first there weren’t that many,
and they really weren’t that good.

As I was learning what to do
by reading other soupers writes,
I felt if I applied myself,
 that I could reach new heights!

I began to enter contests,
but just one at a time!
Cause the only forms I ever knew
were Limerick and Rhyme!

I was shocked to learn how many forms
of Poetry there are!
Most I still don’t understand,
I find them real bizarre.

I’ve taken shots at three of them
Haiku, Senryu, and Quatern.
I really didn’t do too bad,
but I have so much more to learn!

I've entered many contests,
all-in-all I've done okay.
A few have even won first place
which was encouraging, I must say!

I was very happy
that I could do that well.
I had very little confidence,
but you can never really tell!

You all have been so gracious
with your comments on my stuff
I know that I would be remiss
not to thank you all enough.

So thanks to all my Souper friends
for doing what you do,
cause I wouldn't still be writing,
if it were not for you!
