Poem

I s'pose Grandmas think Grandpas are underfoot most of the time,
And consider them moody, grumpy and way past their prime.
But God had a purpose for them in His great scheme of Creation.
He tasked Grandpas specifically to spoil the coming generation!

When Moms say, "No!", Grandpas must occasionally resort to guile,
To treat the kids to a banana split every once in awhile!
He entertains them for hours pulling nickels from his ears, 
And wrestles them to the floor, tickling them to tears!

At the toy store, a few bucks to them he'll surreptitiously slip,
To get a truck for brother and for sister a jumping rope to skip!
He always takes his time and patiently helps the little tykes,
Teaching them the Golden Rule and how to ride their bikes!

When they come to him and say their Mom and Dad are mean,
He assures them that they are loved and their folks are really keen!
They sit on his lap as he reads to them and tells of family lore,
Respect for God, love of country and so very much more!

Grandpas mentor and prepare them to be of service to others,
To respect their teachers, siblings and their Dads and Mothers.
Tho' Grandmas may wonder at times about a Grandpa's worth,
God placed Grandpas here to spoil the grandkids of the earth!
