Poem
I once held a mountain above my head Moving away from the light beneath its shadow The many sorrows, frustrations of life my feelings Held above my head growing heavier with every step Until one night I stumbled and dropped the mountain To shatter my world and the worlds around me forever I once held a mountain above my head I see now the rubble from the fall Surrounds me like the ruins of hopes and dreams All gone wrong for a boy twisted inside out And though I have walked a span of many worlds The dredges of those stones still touch those around me With despair, sorrow even as I struggle to breathe with joy and hope Into these few souls walking with me into the coming of day Past the rubble from that fall long ago I see the dawn glowing on the horizon and sky Filling me with the knowledge that I must be strong Unwavering in my faith which now sustains me into growth As I walk alone on the side of the road apart from companions Who have travelled along my life’s trail holding my hands From here I can see that each have mountains their own And I too can see the shadow of my own new mountain In the depth of my footprints on the gravel and grass I see before me the dawn glowing on the horizon and sky I hold a mountain above me with a spirit beside me Like the Seraph that watches over me in dreams I hold a mountain above me made from hope and dreams
