Poem

Floating down the river,
In my tiny canoe;
Ahead lay a chasm
That I must pass through.
The current was so strong, 
That I could not turn aside.
There were many rocks, and rapids,
Through which I was forced to ride.
The canyon walls were way to steep,
To permit any climb to the top.
And the increasing pace of the water,
Told me I could not stop!
Down and around;around and down;
Over ledges and swells I flew.
Paddling with aching muscles,
I did the best I could humanly do.
Swing the bow to the left,
Watch that boulder off to the right!
Better stay away from that eddy
Or I'll have a watery grave tonight!
I soon had reached my limit;
Victory I was prepared to concede.
Then one more bend in the river,
And the wild water began to recede!

Floating down my life-river,
There are canyons from which I cannot turn aside.
The only choice is to pass straight through,
And trust Jesus-my expert River Guide!
