Poem

Its the escape from reality.
The place we all go for a few minutes of happiness.
Before life and reality come knocking on the door,
forcing us away from our few minutes of joy.
The happy place is our dream world.
For some its a happy point in their life time.
For others its racing in hover cars in the future.
Or dancing in a beautiful meadow.
Maybe fighting pirates and winning.
Or being a kidnapped princess, rescued by a handsome prince.
What about time traveling to historical events? 
Surely enough the happy places is whatever makes us happy.
Getting there and staying there, is not so easy.
Sometimes you need quiet.
Sometimes you need the right music.
Sometimes you need distraction.
Sometimes you need privacy.
But once your there, its disappointing 
having to leave.
Saying goodbye to your delicious smoothie
on the serene beach.
Finding yourself fade away from your daydream.
Aching to hold on to any object in your happy place,
forgetting its not real.
You feel as though you were pulled away from a movie
before you got to the ending.
Just as the climax got bigger in that future hover car race,
Life creeps in and snatches you.
The beautiful meadow becomes flooded in rain.
The pirate was in the process of climbing on your boat
when the image of a boat is replaced with paperwork.
The prince was just about to save you when you vanished.
The happy place is to get us away from the ills of the world.
But where do we go when being taken away from your happy place
leaves you unhappy?
