Poem
Deafening Silence we live in a world juxtaposed with apparent contradictions with poverty shining amidst plenty unseemly wealth jeering at scarcity happiness reaped in the open air under the bridge of a congested city with hardly a loaf to fill the belly but affluence in vain seeking glee and bliss unable to digest a plate of choice to sleep and dream in peace on the luxurious mattress of a palace we live in a world of skyscrapers soaring to the cerulean sky wedded to the world through the nebulous net with the mind filled like a citrine well but knowing not one`s neighbour bereft of friendly feel for fellow citizens with the heart dry like the Arabian desert we live in a world clamouring for genial truth but often hear the voice of untruth pleasantly delivered half- truth enjoyably dished out falsehood cunningly camouflaged as truth w i t t i n g l y c o n v e y e d in various quarters at diverse levels in most spheres of life casting a glimpse around our earth we eye with anguish shining sparkles of grief gloss of sorrows and lament joyful burdens of loads and gleaming lustre of dull despair we glance with mounting desolation boundless intents for protecting our environment amidst jovial assault on our living landscape endless declarations for safeguarding our planet followed by joyful stabbing of our forest and jubilant pollution of our atmosphere peeking around our world we perceive with deep regret flaming pleas for peace followed by thrills of bloody wars savoury appeals for cease-fire trailing enthusiastic bombing of civilians of houses, spouses and children jubilant destruction of infrastructure of shrines of health of learning of peace and of faith mellifluous appeals for non-violence with ensuing spree of brutality and bloodshed in wonder we gaze around us apparently tongue tied with golden fright voice shrivelled with a warm cold muted for hot soothing words with the pen bleeding black or short of ink with deafening silence of the grave.
