“Life is like a ship tossed on the high sea To journey amidst sunshine and wild waves.” - By author. ************************************************************** Tossed on the Wide Seas Sailing along in midst of the wide seas With our boat swamped with water to the knees Hurled by woeful winter winds on a reef Our crew immersed in an ocean of grief Knowing not to sail in which direction The sun close to set in the horizon The wayward wilful waves rocking our boat We`re tasked with keeping our vessel afloat. Shuddering with raving ripples of fear I ponder on which way our boat to steer At the nearest port to land for repairs And seek some needed help and focused care, But no clues flow to my terrified mind Within narrow bounds my eyesight confined With darkness creeping in with the twilight And still not perceptible the moon`s light. I close my eyes and ears to the surround Delve deep down myself, with no outer sound To disturb the fragile seams of my ears, And suppress all weltering waves of fear; Soon a soft voice whispers in my rapt ears, A voice that is to me so clear and dear: “Follow the moon that in half hour will rise, You will be greeted with welcome surprise.” The skipper first treats my words as sheer fraud But salutes it with a slim cheerless nod When I stress I ever have bursting trust And what my inner voice told me was just, Not a fake engineered with counterfeit But a whisper replete with divine faith As we sail along the voyage of life And face the rash ripples of daily strife. With the moon rising on the horizon We sail eastward as in a procession Trailing its path, illumined by its light That tears asunder darkness of the night, In midst of whirling winds and wilful waves Pulling up our spirit and being brave For two hours when shines to our heedful eyes The distant sight of land flanking the sky. The face of voyagers flares up with cheers~ Shedding away in the ocean their fears To me they express their obligation For freeing them from likely submersion; “Gratitude you need offer to the Lord Without Him to breathe we cannot afford Words of the inner self from Him do glow,” Are the final keywords from me to flow.
