We live in a country…a world…where many of us are wedged
Between what we perceive as good on one side…evil on the other…
With us standing on the edge.

Where our world which should be simple…has become too unstable…to complex.
Where now, living on the edge of evil…we’re not sure what will happen next.

But it’s important to remember on the edge is where many of life’s journeys start
It’s where two people standing on the edge of love…for the first time find their hearts.

When things look their bleakest…when evil seems to reign supreme
remember standing on the edge of darkness is where we begin to dream.

I walk on the edge of night and day every morning
with the birds and rabbits who accompany me…
There on the edge under the moon the clouds and the stars
is where I find my peace and tranquility.

Anyone whose experienced a loss…when times seems to stop
and you don’t know where you are…or when…
knows standing on the edge of grief…is where you find happiness again

Those of us standing frightened on the edge of this evil…
washing over us like a tidal wave
must remember on the edge of fear is where we often find the courage to be brave.

For courage and bravery is what’s needed on the edge of evil…
without it…goodness will fail…
but with courage, accompanied by love, acceptance compassion and kindness 
goodness will prevail…. 

Because in life when between goodness and evil 
we find ourselves so tightly wedged…
If, as I believe, goodness is the reason we were created…
then, in the long rung,…
it is goodness that has the edge.
