Poem
The sky was gray, the trees were bare, I walked alone through halls of glare, Where whispered words like nettles grew, And silence had a sharper hue. They jeered and laughed with hollow pride, But none could see the tears I’d hide— A quiet soul with hands held tight, Afraid to speak, afraid to fight. But stars are born in darkest skies, And truth is born where courage lies. I spoke at last, my voice unsure, To someone kind, a heart made pure. They listened close, they didn’t flinch, And with their care, I felt a pinch Of something warm—a strength, a thread That wound me back from fear and dread. I told the truth. I made it known. No longer must I weep alone. I held my phone—its light a shield— A silent guard across the field. When they returned with biting flame, I did not run, I said my name. And others watched with widened eyes— I saw the hush, I heard no lies. One voice can stir a sleeping sea, And truth, once freed, will not flee. The faces changed, the sneers grew dim, The tide had turned—no longer grim. My classmates saw I would not fall, And in their gaze, I stood more tall. Respect is earned not through the blow, But by the strength that dares to show. So if you're lost, and fear has grown, Speak loud your name—you’re not alone. Keep light near you, and stand your ground, For even trembling hearts resound. And when they see the fire you hold, They’ll learn your silence was pure gold.
