When you were constantly dismissive of me,
making me wonder what happened to the man I married,
I remained a loving wife, hoping you’d see
ME again and banish the burden of hurt I carried.

When you began to spend more time with friends,
some of whom you wouldn’t name, night after night,
did you never feel you had reason to make amends?
I kept mum, not wanting to start a fight.

Then you planned “a month-long cruise so grand”—
for us? NO! For yourself, siblings, mom, and dad.
“What about me?” I cried. “Please try to understand,”
you said. “It’s just for family. You’ve no right to be mad!”

Shattered, I shouted, “So—a wife is not family?!”
You packed and left without saying a word.
That very day, I left, setting myself free,
leaving you to enjoy life with those you preferred.
