It begins at the crown
             where morning light first touches
          the geography of her scalp, then
       tumbles
    like
 water
finding its own way down
the curve of her neck
Each strand a story 
Each curl a question 
flowing mark into
floating in the next air
                AUBURN
                    &
                CHOCOLATE
                    &
                CARAMEL
                    &
                COPPER
                
                braided
            together
        by
    invisible
hands
of genetics
and time
and care
and touch

She shakes
her head
and the whole
world moves:
ripple
    ripple
        ripple
            ripple
                ripple
                    through
                        silk

                        Her hair catches light
                    catches compliments  
                catches fingers
            catches breath
        catches
    eyes
catches
herself in mirrors 
wondering if she knows
how beautiful she is
                when every strand
                    speaks
                        in
                            tongues
                                of
                                    shine
This is how hair becomes poetry
becomes movement
becomes the most
beautiful thing 
about morning:
                the way it falls
                    and rises
                        and falls
                            again
                                into
                                    place
                                        
                                        like it was always
                                            meant
                                                to
                                                    be
                                                        exactly
