The unseen threads,
taut with unspoken expectations,
slack with miles, with years,
with the simple choice of a turned back.

We build bridges of shared laughter,
of whispered secrets in the dark,
arches of understanding, brick by fragile brick.
And then, a careless word, a forgotten call,
a shift in the wind,
and the chasm yawns.

The digital hum promises closeness,
a thousand faces flicker on a screen,
yet fingertips brush glass, not skin.
We curate connections,
edit our vulnerabilities,
present polished selves to a world hungry for real.

Is it the weight of knowing,
the burden of truly seeing,
that pushes us away?
Or the fear of being seen,
stripped bare of our carefully constructed walls?

Sometimes, the greatest distance
exists between two bodies in the same room,
a silence thick with unspoken needs,
a universe contained in a sigh.

And sometimes, a fleeting glance across a crowded street,
a shared moment of awe at a falling star,
can bridge the widest gulf,
a fragile, incandescent thread
in the vast tapestry of being alone, together.
