Poem
Written: April, 16, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Kai Michael Neumann ************************** From a deep weariness of the soul to the discomfort embedded in our bones. From shadowy areas arises brightness, where silhouettes move with heavy steps, in collective hardship and spirits. Answers quietly gather strength as ancient trees bent by tempests, we persist, rise, and exacerbate bitter tendrils creep in despite our competition, we uncover compassion. Each tear plants seeds of hope, and each sorrow bestows resilience joyfully dissatisfied We embrace life's cynicism, and appreciate health and love. I find myself under the stars envisioning undefined tomorrows joyfully exasperated, caught in a paradox, possibilities for dance remain unseen regret overshadows happiness I feel as a mere shell of my true potential, I cherish the journey, but are we there yet? Being aware while dreaming Self-made and unconventional, Creating space for endless quiet reflection Restless yet serene, dreams surpass slumber, Despite my fears, I'm thankful for numerous blessings. In autumn foliage, I meander highlighting the raw murmurs, heavy branches weigh on tall trees, a sense of lightness resides beneath In the dwindling afternoon chill hidden awareness warms me wisdom-laden peaks ascend their spires caress celestial aspirations I recline with every step surrendering to the present moment my heart is uncertain joyfully dissatisfied, I rise. I rise amid contradictions, I remain alone in my space a walking mystery craving social acceptance akin to a shadowy river it frustrates me fears from inner demons freeze me at night, people seek solace through prayer such as fog, joy eludes our grasp hypocrisies fracture my thoughts overwhelmed by feelings of inadequacy Inner and outer voices scream at me I'm on the dividing line between purpose and lack of direction labels from superficial onlookers prejudices and anxieties lower my worth. Elevating others clashes with shortcomings Refusal to see oneself as a victim while feeling victimized I hear society's harsh judgments racism brutal grip on the spirit seeks a voice amid chaotic crowds a genuine freedom to decide Isolation breeds richness uniformity confines an oddity in a role-oriented world anger is reasonable but damaging scars are hidden beneath visible wounds silently enduring, often contemplating escape Invisible chains restrict interactions the struggle with societal norms is intense. Dark clouds from the north gather swiftly. casting a shadow over the sapphire sky with sorrow. the rumbling thunder is overwhelming a strange chill runs down my spine a soft knock echoes at my door I hear murmurs within my walls eerily repeating my name years of joyful discontent freezing my transgressions in serene solitude a bleak mist covers this crumbling sanctuary peering through the curtains, I see despair crimson roses in my once-opulent garden, ashy, soaking into the earth.
