Poem
Last Glance I looked in the mirror and see what i saw. It left without telling me its secrets which I knew without saying . You had left all of your clothes hanging stiff. A memory and a fragrant cling I see that sweater acquired in Paris and the laughter and all the lovely apparel. The inlaid china which you’d had to have, strewn about haphazardly the room. What does anything matter without your heart beating against my chest ,razor sharp , skin glistening and the pressure of the sheets cluttered around us no more? And sweat building up to the climax of smashing that snarling ragged china because I will never see you again or press myself to you and say these words. I have loved you since I saw you the first! What do I see now that I no longer hear you whisper? Or have I gone deaf since I last saw the radiance as flowers in a field sunlit. From the Sun rising in the East and setting in the West, I’m lost without the poignant touch and warmth of no other. As the loyal dog waits at the window each minute for his Master to come, I look at my hearts window and peer longingly, hope unfailing. I wore your love as armory but the arrows still breached. Told me it’s been finished like milk that’s gone bad. And you hang the phone up as I feel the warmth of shame. By, Patrick Cornwall
