Written: April 09, 2025, for contest Sponsored by: Daniel Henry Rodgers Quote: "Do not look back, no one knows how the world ever began. Do not fear the future, nothing lasts forever. If you dwell on the past or future, you will miss the moment." By Rumi ********************* Reflections in the mirror show shadows, ghostly remnants that convey truths. Time flows in reverse as well, woven with dreams and recollections, while moments, akin to fallen foliage, accumulate at my feet, whispering with unspoken voices. The past looms large, casting lengthy shadows against the brightness of the future. We create a facade using stolen plumes. Thoughts resonate; beliefs are passionately formed. Emerging from families marked by emotional strife and grief, these women have watchful eyes that are always vigilant. We exist in a landscape filled with prevailing social biases. Yet, our grip on the foliage is fragile. May a fresh source of inspiration be granted to me. With my eyes closed to the present, I picture the pathways I have chosen. Futures written in vapor, their phrases reminiscent of ancient scrolls coming to life. Laughter mingles with cries, crafting complex mosaics of history and possible futures. Fingers trace the lines of palms in search of omens from ultimate destiny. A complex symphony is a task of the mind. Hidden truths in ordinary places long for discovery. A tale yet to be revealed holds a riddle within. The alluring charm of love – a harsh truth. As a tear descends, it seeks to engulf one’s self-image. The universe rattled to its core. Books function merely as tools for the journey. A means to cultivate ideas. At this step, an independent view is expected to remain an aspiration. The heart longs for raw songs to convey, though it carries an ancient rhythm. Nighttime murmurs spin tales that link the past to future mornings. Shrouded figures wield lights, intermittently glowing with hope and fear as they navigate the fog. Each choice, a stone tossed into calm waters, creates lasting ripples. The horizon shimmers with possibilities as delicate as gossamer, adorned with dew. And the wind carries fragrances from unseen places, Where futures thrive in rich soil. Until reality morphs into a mere thin veil We don with ease, reflections merge with the phantoms of dreams.
